Here are the steps to follow for the bus to minibus conversion process:

  1. TSE Official and Project Application: First of all, an application must be made to the TSE authorized mechanical engineer for the vehicle seat removal project.
  2. Seat Removal: Vehicle seats must be removed in accordance with the project and this process must be carried out permanently.
  3. Vehicle Controls and Reporting: Afterwards, the vehicle is taken to the TSE vehicle control center, inspections are carried out and a TSE report is generated.
  4. Inspection and License Change: An appointment is made for TÜV-TÜRK vehicle modification inspection. The vehicle project and other documents must be submitted to the inspection station. Afterwards, the vehicle owner applies to the notary for a license change.
  5. Tax and Insurance Procedures: An application is made to the tax office of transport vehicles together with the vehicle license. In addition, an application is made to the authorized insurance agency for vehicle traffic insurance. Traffic insurance premiums for vehicles converted from buses to minibuses are generally lower.

The price of converting a bus into a minibus is 2,952.89 TL as of January 1, 2024. This fee is TSE Vehicle Inspection fee. Project fee varies. The service fee offered by the engineering company is also added to this fee.

Safety Exits on Buses

  1. Safety Outlet Dimensions:
    • Doors must be at least 43 cm wide.
    • Windows and doors must be at least 60 x 43 cm or 50 cm in diameter.
    • If the windows or doors are at least 120 x 43 cm, they are considered double exits.
    • Safety exits must be easy to open or break.
  2. Number of Safety Outputs:
    • It is determined by the number of passengers:
      • 16-26 passengers: 3 exits
      • 26-50 passengers: 4 exits
      • 51-70 passengers: 5 exits
      • More than 70 passengers: 6 exits
  1. Double Doors and Exits:
    • If there is a door on one side, there should be the same number of safety exits on the other side.
  2. Distribution and Equality:
    • Doors and exits should be evenly distributed on both sides of the vehicle.
  3. Marking:
    • “Emergency Exit” sign must be placed for exits other than normal doors.
    • A breaking hammer should be kept near window exits.
  4. Windows and Safety:
    • Opening windows must be easy and safe.
    • In school vehicles, the windows accessible to students should be fixed or fixed.
  5. Passage and Clearing:
    • The space between the passage corridor and the emergency exit door must be in accordance with the regulation.
