Seat Disassembly Project Steps

The following steps should be followed to operate a seat on the license:

• Vehicle seat removal is performed.
• A project is drawn for vehicle modification inspection and TÜVTÜRK vehicle inspection station is visited.
• After the vehicle modification inspection is completed, the vehicle license holder applies to the notary and the changes made are recorded on the license.
• Together with the vehicle’s traffic registration certificate and the modification project, the tax office is applied to the tax office of transport vehicles and the financial record is updated.

Cost of Seat Reduction from License

The cost of removing the seat to the license after seat modification is 1.821,60 TL. This fee is the TSE Vehicle Inspection fee. Project fee varies. The service fee provided by the engineering firm is added to this fee.

Operations in Panel Van, Minibus and Bus Groups

For vehicles in these groups, operations are usually carried out with vehicle modification projects.

In particular, according to the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918, there may be significant changes in vehicle classifications. For example, minibuses with 9 seats can be reclassified as automobiles, while vehicles with 10-17 seats become minibuses. Vehicles registered as 18-19 seater small buses can be converted into 14+1 seater minibuses by removing the seats. These conversions also require changes to the vehicle’s traffic and registration documents. Vehicles reclassified in this way can benefit from tax and insurance advantages. Similar conversions can also be made for school buses, in which case seat removal and preparation of a new vehicle plan are required.

Things to Consider During Seat Removal

• No damage to rail connections and chassis
• Not cutting the connection points
• Documenting the transactions and subjecting them to review

If the seats are not fixed to the rails, the bolt connections are removed and the connection points in the floor are sealed by welding or cutting. Holes must not be sealed with metal putty!

The dismantled seats should be subjected to TSE inspection before new seats are shifted to the areas of the dismantled seats.
